Make A Classic Chili

Chili

When the weather gets cold, there’s nothing like a nice bowl of chili. Actually, come to think of it, a bowl of chili’s pretty tasty on a warm day, too. In other words, when you make a classic chili here in Wichita Falls, Texas, it’ll be a nice meal any time of the year. And if you’re looking for just the right chili recipe, here’s one you might enjoy.

Ingredients

The ingredients for this recipe are your standard ingredients that you might expect from a traditional chili. We’re talking ground beef, beans, and a simple homemade blend of chili seasonings.

Steps

Mixing everything up into the pot is pretty simple. In fact, a lot of the steps in this recipe call for you to mix everything up. So, get ready to mix it up a bit.

  • Heat olive in a large soup pot.
  • Add chopped onion and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add ground beef and break it apart with a wooden spoon.
  • Cook for 6-7 minutes.
  • Add chili powder, cumin, sugar, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and optional cayenne.
  • Stir until well combined.
  • Add diced tomatoes, kidney beans, beef broth, and tomato sauce.
  • Stir well.
  • Let the chili rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Toppers

Chili often tastes better with a really good topper. So, what is your favorite?  Shredded cheddar cheese is always a mouth-watering choice, as is sour cream. Of course, you can’t forget to think about sliced green onions or diced avocado. And would your chili dinner be complete without saltine crackers or oyster crackers? Better yet, maybe you want to add a grilled cheese sandwich to the mix that you can tear apart and dip into the bowl. The possibilities are endless.
